Perth Shooters Complete Second “Walk for Sofs”

Last year our “Walk for Sofs“ was only a few weeks after our much loved Sue passed away. The walk was over two days and it was all about distance, carrying our backpacks and jumping off a Rottnest jetty. It was challenging but very doable! Coming together was what we needed to help with our grieving. We shared many very funny stories and wiped away lots of tears! Even though we had sun one minute and extreme stormy conditions the next!, we did it and loved every minute of it!
This year our theme was 17+10..Sue’s Lax numbers… we walked from Churchlands Primary School, (where we all originally met Sue), to Matilda Bay – where Sue once spontaneously jumped off the jetty, to swim with a dolphin.. as you do!.
We took a longer than usual route to make it 17kms. The walk was fantastic, with a well timed coffee stop along the way. This time our walk was less about the challenge but more about just coming together. We didn’t stop talking the entire way, reflecting on our girl and how strong our much loved friendships were with her. We finished the walk with lunch and bubbles and of course the must do jetty jump!
The 10 kms next day is an individual walk of choice! A big pat on the back to Robby and Gill who were up early Sunday morning, putting one foot in front of the other. I’m sure there will be a few more 10km walks completed this week!
We have committed to donate $1710 to the Sue Sofarnos Foundation, so that we can continue to be apart of keeping Sue’s legacy going. Which is supporting the Australian Lacrosse Team and Women’s Lacrosse in general.
