On this day in 1988, these two tied the knot, and the very next day, Melli woke up and played for Newport Ladies Lacrosse Club.
If John thought that’s where it would all end, they shortly after jetted off on their honeymoon… which began with the rest of the Australian team on a tour of England — her new husband in tow 😅
Today, John also turns 59 – a big Happy Birthday to Melli’s greatest rock and best friend.

The journey to the 2026 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship continues at the 2025 Asia-Pacific Women’s Lacrosse Championship, hosted by Lacrosse Australia from January 6-11 at the Sunshine Coast Stadium in Queensland.
